Adam Ant vs. Lucy Toothpaste →

“I’m not really a wardrobe nazi.”

Historically interesting interview with Adam where he’s dogged by a journo to explain his views on racism, feminism, class war, and all that fun stuff. If you aren’t aware of the punk-fascism controversies of the ‘70’s… well, being aware of that would help you with this one.

“I don’t know how to say this, but everyone hates Adam and the Ants… but I saw Adam and the Ants on Tuesday and quite enjoyed it.

He reminded me of a hammier version of Siouxsie, coming on all drama school, shoulder hugging cracked actor, face coated in thick white makeup, eyes staring, body jerking and all that.

He takes himself seriously but he’s quite fun in a campy caricature of Bowie’s darkest moments sort of way…”
